announcement Dreadylocks - Member of the Month - March 2010

+10, I mean +12, I mean +19, well actually I can't keep up... Dready, you rock! Keep being you. Thanks for all your input to the Indy sub-culture. Congrats!

Camcorder with quality of a Canon 7D?

Canon T2i... pretty dang close to the 7D, and a few bucks cheaper ($8-900 at Wallyworld). The rest is up to you since making really good short films doesn't rely on the camera you use.

    Talent Show; The documentary...

Main cam will be wide right out front... wideangle/hd. All audio should be fine, will save for back-up use. Will try to get my audio guys on board for the good stuff though. Thanks again for all the helpful input.

Not implying anything about post.. lol, and what do I do with that one, lone mic.? Oh wait... I have some calls to make, 2 guys who do audio might be able to help out.. hmmmm, sync.ing shouldn't be too bad. Hand claps still ok in place of the real thing????

    Talent Show; The documentary...

Oof, you guys are killing me... yes it's a favor, but i need the practice. And as for that crappy "$400" camera... well that exceeds my current camera(s) value (3 cameras, 6 batteries, 3 chargers, a mono pod, tripod, and bags for all of it... phooey, I sound like a teenager now..). Well at least...

That sounds good too... I knew I could count on you guys and gals...

    Talent Show; The documentary...

Very cute nephew!! Looks like you guys had fun. And thanks, I think I'll try to do before and after interviews and set-up/break-down shots. I like the audience view idea, nice! Now if only I had 3 or 4 of the same cameras.. the Sanyo is actually VERY good for the price. Just doesn't have any...

    Talent Show; The documentary...

Thanks Wheat, but not selling it. And I'm thinking it would be difficult to condense 30 sec. to 3min. skits/songs. Non-specific dialog and actions are a little easier to highlight just the pinnacle or "interesting" portions. Leaving out the intro and including the punch-line won't cut it for a...

    Talent Show; The documentary...

Thanks Dready, it helps. I don't think I'll be able to control the beginning, end, or middle, lol, but I'll do what I can. I have a Canon ZR25mc and a Sanyo Xacti cg10. Also have a Sony ccd-trv58 I can use too I think. Quite a combo, but it will have to do...

    Talent Show; The documentary...

OK, so I didn't want to come right and admit I'm a total newb, but this is the interweb so nobody knowses me... I volunteered to film a talent show (my son will be in, by coincidence) and would like to make it into a "movie" to prsent to the organizers and a few others. It's been "taped" the...

Awesome! Loved it! And I'm absolutely against animal cruelty.. But the irony I love... I have a neighbor who's a grass nazi... hilarious!

    My new toy!!

Thanks for the photos of the assembly. Looks good. Footage looks good too... Can't wait 'till some day I can get a T2i or a 7D... Love the softer, focused look of lenses...

How did they do this effect?

Looks like greenscreened candles over-layed on the scene, sequenced one after the other with a small delay between lighting them. Pretty smooth since they are out of focus tyeing the shot together.

    Hilarious moments in filmmaking

Mine comes from the time my 9 yr. old son was so into his character, he fell over backwards as an alien shot him and fell directly onto the concrete in our basement in front of the bluescreen. NOT funny at the time! But as he got up totally unharmed, well it became kinda funny. He was so into...
