You know what looks like film? FILM... In my opinion nothing looks as good as film, but shoot what you have the budget for, if tape is what you are bugeted for shoot tape it is relatively inexpensive and can be reused. The key point I guess is just shoot!!!!!

Depending on how many shooting days you have I would think about renting a 3 chip cam for a day, pick it up on friday return it monday morning, and don't worry about it. Spend the time on lighting and sound, sound, sound.

Anybody used one these? Says it will shoot 24frame and manual white balance, and focus.

Have the opportunity to pick up a Canon XL1 or GL2 for the same price or a Panasonic AG-DVX100B for about $100 more. Any suggestions? The XL1 has a hard case, xlr mount, two batteries, a rain/sand cover bag, one 4 in viewing mount monitor, additional mount light, Mic, remote control, cables...
