So I want a character to look obsessive and detailed about stuff in a funny way. He's an engineer and outside of his job (but maybe in the office), I want to show him being really OCD and obsessive.
For example, showing him at the beach with his wife / girlfriend. Then he starts building a...
You're kidding me, right? In the UK, a v/o artist would cost £500 max for a one-day read. This would be a high-quality professional who would deliver a superb read. That's $650 USD.
I had a read the other day for £400 including studio time. $1,500 is waaayyy too much.
Zooms are tough. I've beaten up my Zooms, Tascams etc... and a Fostex. The Fostex died, two Tascams died but my Zoom (and SD) are still going strong. They're much tougher than the Fostex and Tascam and have been around Europe with me getting a hammering. Off to Rome, next with a little Zoom...
My thought process in getting to the F4N is:
If I buy used, and literally 'perfect' condition, it is maybe 40% of the price. And I have more versatility because the F4 can then be a backup.
If I use the analogue limiters on the Mix Pre-D with the low cuts, I can feed it straight into the...

Specifically, I would do this:
- Buy a used mic. I bought an ECM 674 for $70...
So I've been using a Mix Pre-D with fantastic results. Due to it's analogue limiters, it has saved me more on lots of different occasions and for field work, it's small, tougher than my ex-wife's divorce lawyer and allows me to get quality audio for interviews in difficult situations.
It has...
Editing half a dozen corporates, trying to find my passport so I can fly to Germany for a shoot and working on a pitch for a prospect...
And wondering when I'll have time to sleep...
Just finishing an edit off for a customer. Have another edit for another customer tomorrow and Friday and next Tuesday, have the biggest commercial shoot of my life.
More money, more cameras and more craziness than any two of my other commercial shoots put together.
I'm kinda looking forward...
So I need to buy a birthday present for tomorrow. This is for someone who has relatively recently taken up editing.
They're using some cheap package on a Windows machine and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for something really simple for them. As I edit professionally, I...
