    Proposed $1,000 ~ $1,200 setup ~ Your opinion?

Thanks for checking it out! An audio feed from the sound board would have been ideal. However, I talked with the sound guy at the bar (Very knowledgeable...has a degree in music production and has mixed for over 400 bands at the same stage) and he brought up a great point that I had not...

    watch Alabama Spotlight: American Freshman

Hey guys, we just finished our first biographical documentary on a local band. Actually, it's our first film since we purchased usable equipment. I would appreciate it if you left some feedback. We have open ears! https://vimeo.com/39743848 We shot using a T3i with a 50mm f/1.8 on a Flycam...

    Proposed $1,000 ~ $1,200 setup ~ Your opinion?

So, our original shoot for the 25th of February didn't work out. The band's drummer couldn't make it, so they had to unplug for the night. We did get a nice night of shooting on March 23rd, though. For our first experience in that setting, I was surprised at how well it turned out. We are...

How do I change the color of sunlight?

As 2001 Productions said.........white balance. Use a custom white balance if a preset doesn't get you where you want. Use a piece of white or light gray paper, take a still, and set that photo as your custom white balance. Works every time.

    Proposed $1,000 ~ $1,200 setup ~ Your opinion?

:D We got all the stuff from B&H on Monday, the FlyCam showed up yesterday, and the shotgun mic came last week. I ordered the mic and the FlyCam from Amazon because B&H was out of stock on the mic and they don't offer the FlyCam. I also built a DIY boom pole last evening. The only thing I'm...

Ha, that is an understatement. We're shooting a mini documentary style short of my roommate's band with interviews, concert footage, etc. If everything goes well, we're hoping to turn it into a web series of sorts for local bands.

I didn't mean to step on any toes guys... I know as well as you guys what it's like when a forum noob acts an ass. That's not what I'm intending to do. We already have some lights and will probably get a couple more. I listed a 50mm f/1.8 in our revised list. That should do fine for night shots...

It may be junk to you but I have used it for over 2 years with my XSi and I can't think of a reason to call it junk. Our first shoot was shot with the same lens and again, it was very usable. Primes are great and we will use more of them in time, but we seem to use zoom a good bit and I...

Thanks. I posted our DIY lighting strategy earlier in the thread. It worked better than I expected for our first shoot. Yeah, it has IS thankfully. It's the regular ole' IF 18-55 EF lens that Canon likes to pair with the entry level DSLRs. Works well enough. I would kill to have a 28mm f/1.8...
