    Prop Weaponry and more

Haven't logged on in almost nine years, so I consider this an introduction as well... but I run a small prop weapons rental business that caters mostly to lower-budget indie film as well as live theatre. www.fightdesigner.com Pretty decent selection of blank firing and dummy firearms, swords...

    Fight Designer

Don't think I ever properly introduced myself- sorry! Kevin Inouye here... sole proprietor of Fight Designer, LLC. I do prop weaponry rentals, fight choreography and instruction, gun wrangling, occasionally blood effects, stunt burns, etc. Based in Seattle, WA. www.fightdesigner.com...

    Prop Weaponry, Stunts, etc

Another bump- this time because the new version of the website is live. www.fightdesigner.com MySpace.com/fightdesigner

    Prop Weaponry, Stunts, etc

Just a quick bump, since I've added some stuff and will be adding more in the next week or two... I also finally went fully legit and am now an LLC in the State of Washington... still unsure how wise a decision that'll be, since I now have to pay State business taxes and my profit margin is so...

    Gun primer part 2

Gun primer part 2 Apparently MySpace doesn't like it when I type up entries in other programs and paste them here. Can't for the life of me get the formatting on that last entry to stop looking like, as Stunt Coordinator, United Stuntman's Association founder and SAFD co-founder Dave Boushey...

What you need to know about prop firearms

Repost from an old entry in My Industry Blog -one of the first, actually- but one that I think the more filmmakers see, the better... Gun primer for theatre and film, Part 1 While so many of our modern and dramatic conflicts are eventually (not solved perhaps, but) resolved with the use of...

Does anyone know of a good prop makers forum?

Does have a bit of the Sten gun look to it- couple of pieces of pipe and a drill press and you've got a receiver. Curious though- are they supposed to be projectile or some kinda sci-fi ray gun thing? Either way, I find myself wondering where the ammo or charge goes- seems like a gun should...

Does anyone know of a good prop makers forum?

For a while there was some good stuff going on sticktowhatyouknow , but I haven't been over there for a while. Sanctuary.indieshare.com also had a props section, but I stopped checking it after it got real quiet for a long time. Any particular type of props? My thing is prop weaponry, so I...

    Prop weapons & Seattle stunts

Thanks. I do ship, but I haven't dealt with international shipping yet and I'm not sure I want to - Canada has different laws in regards to replica guns, and I'd hate to get on the wrong side of the law and/or have things confiscated. Swords or knives would probably be ok though- I've taken...

    Prop weapons & Seattle stunts

Always happy to meet more local film-makers interested in putting a little safe but exciting action into their production... I do fight choreography, gun wrangling, prop weaponry, some stunt work, and in a pinch I can do some blood effects as well. www.fightdesigner.com...

    Fighting

There's a number of tutorials available- if you get the "Ultimate Fights volume 2" they've got a how-to on there, just for example: http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Fights-Vol-Al-Pacino/dp/B00005YXCK/ref=sr_1_7/104-1917885-3234304?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1184539549&sr=8-7 The above answers are all...

    Real guns vs. fake guns?

Most of the electric blowback ones aren't very good- extra button on the grip under the trigger noise, slow movement, noisy motor, etc. The gas blowback airsoft guns can be pretty nice though, and are worth the extra money- but yeah, you need to scrape off the orange paint and re-paint it...

Dust hits: paintballs that do the trick.

I know I've seen empty paintball casings for sale before, but then when I actually tried to buy some to do this, I couldn't find any anymore. If anyone finds a source online, let me know. Thanks, Kevin

    Getting Shot Effect

Or get a hand-pump pesticide sprayer from the hardware store (runs about $25 probably) and some latex tubing. Have a couple inches of blood in the end of the tube and just air behind it so it comes through more explosively, tape it in place. There's more fancy variations on this, but you get...
