What's the next step up from H4n/Ntg-2 combo?

Thx, Alcove! Incredibly helpful as always! I did just because it was the highest quality. I won't pretend like I had another reason. Is 96 overkill?

What's the next step up from H4n/Ntg-2 combo?

Low battery has definitely been an issue before, and replacing the batteries helped immensely when it happened. I'm not the one operating; I have another person for that. They're, fortunately, pretty aggressive with getting good sound. They always make sure try to hug the frame line and are...

What's the next step up from H4n/Ntg-2 combo?

I'm a little underwhelmed with my Ntg-2/H4n combo. I need to be at 100 recording level, and still I'll get -18 to -12 db, and the sound is a little artificial and muddy. I was wondering if there is a good upgrade i could get for $500 or under that could improve my sound quality/sensitivity...

How do you learn to color grade?

Right on! I'll be sure to check out the tutorials. If I were to learn on resolve lite, do you think the info would be applicable to after effects?

How do you learn to color grade?

I know it's a very very dense discipline, but I was wondering where do I start if I want to learn how to color grade a film? Any highly recommended books or videos? I heard about "The Tao of Color", but it seems to apply only to people grading on DaVinci Resolve, which I can far from afford...

How do you properly attach a lavalier?

I'm working on a no-budget feature, and we've hit a wall with laving up talent. I've had some fantastic help in regards to audio, but I still cannot for the life of me prevent the lavalieres from making noise from contact with clothing. I've tried having a shirt underneath and over the lav...

Best lavalier for Zoom H4N (and other questions)

Thanks for the vid, Alcove Audio. That info is super helpful! I talked with the other guys, we looked into the quality of the 88, and mixed with the ntg-2, it'll do well. thanks for all the help guys!

Best lavalier for Zoom H4N (and other questions)

Thanks for the help! I'll definitely check out the AT Pro 88. I'd love to rent the G3, but 2 at 50 a day comes out to 100 a day, and probably 1500 by the end of the production. I couldn't afford that. Just for my edification, what headaches would come with going cheaper than the Pro 88...

Best lavalier for Zoom H4N (and other questions)

Hiring would not work too well, unfortunately. We're shooting with a tiny, committed crew, nobody's getting paid, and we're only shooting on a crazy schedule that consists mainly of weekends. We want to do it this way, so that we can reduce the pressure of traditional narrative moviemaking...

Best lavalier for Zoom H4N (and other questions)

I'm prepping for essentially a no-budget film, and I'm trying to figure out how to get the best bang for the buck audio setup. I'm sure it's a frustrating topic, as production gear in other areas has very much a "you get what you pay for" nature when it comes to quality. Thus, asking a lot...

Filmic DSLR vs Video-esque DSLR footage.

My apologies. I read that completely wrong. I thought you wanted an example of the video-ey look I was talking about, but not shot on a DSLR. The more I look at it, I think it may not have been the movement of the subjects, but rather the camera shake. There's a more video-esque camera...
