I was under the impression he realizes the only thing he loves is war. He says he loves one thing and then they cut to him back on the field. But that doesn't change what I thought of it.
They spent so much time building up the team of characters, I wanted to know what happened to Sanborn. The whole way through they were driving home the countdown of days and then it never got us to the last day and what happened then. It just skipped to Seargent James in the grocery store. And honestly, I didn't know if that was a flashback or a flashforward. To me, he wasn't the star, so for it to drop everyone else and end on his choosing to go back into the field, well I didn't care about him as much as the group of them together. Also it was distracting that Kate from Lost was his wife. There's a scene in Lost where she's walking through the grocery store with her toddler son and it made me think of that. That's probably not really the filmmaker's fault, but I couldn't help it!
