Obtaining an outdoor look as good as this.

Yes they look to be using a 35mm adapter, because of all focus searching is being used. I woulded be suprised they just used the EX1 or maybe a Canon XHA1 with a 50mm manual lens with a brevis35 adapter because of it's light weight and excellent low light adaptability. A lot of hand held shots...

    Ciné lightmeter recommendations?

Big question for you..What format are you going to shoot? Video or Film. If Film then I would get a solid cine lightmeter. But if it for HDV then you should be able to get buy with your camera's own metering systems, with zebras. I shoot both HDV and Ultra16mm film. So I use my old Spectra...

    Which camera for my mac?

I second the use of a DVX100B camera is a good choice with your funds. It shoots progressive 24p or for where your at you will need a PAL (25FPS) camera since you the EU is not NTSC. The camera has a amazing builtin microphone that does pretty well. Even though I would look into boom mikes like...

    Digital VS Film? Seriously!

There are other comments listed under the "KODAK" site that is not as biased toward film. I recommend you watch them all and then make a fair judgement. If finances is your limit, then we all have to work within our means. But let you all know there is a resurgence of 16mm filmmaking to be...

Question for syncing audio to film

I use a external mackie sound mixer for capturing audio from a boom mike and input it directly to my xha1. Seems very clear when using a good front end mike and boom. In addition the sound mixing board tends to have better input electronics vs what the camera has built in. You can use a external...

    TRANSFERRING DIGITAL TO FILM?

Why not consider renting a AATON Super 16mm film camera with lenses and hire qualified DP to run it. I'm sure there are many DP's in town that have their own cameras and connections to use short ends to keep costs down. Instead of going the RED route, and having to DI it and find a way to...

    Digital VS Film? Seriously!

Check this out. http://motion.kodak.com/US/en/motion/Products/Customer_Testimonials/Bill_Dill/index.htm http://motion.kodak.com/US/en/motion/Products/Customer_Testimonials/Archive/index.htm I think seeing this may open up some eyes on what is really going on. My 2 cents. PS I shoot HDV and...

    Avid Express

Need a lot of ram- 1 gig is the minimum when using XP. Don't know on the apple side but ram is still an issue with Avid. Also having your data on another separate drive and not on your OS drive or you will experience slow render times and more chances for crashes. Try to SATA if you can.

    avid or premiere?

I use Vegas from starting out at Avid Pro. Find it very intuitive..a lot easier workflow and with the AC3 and 5.1 built in with the DVD Architect..other NLE's should be worried. Especially since version 6 just came out with VST, photoshop and Blackdesign HD card support. The only thing it needs...
