Wrote the first scene of a web series (Through I was rushed at the end)

When you're writing a screenplay you shouldn't write the directions/ what it's going to look and cut like. Just write the dialogue and direct the cam op/work with the DoP/Cinematographer when you're planning the scenes and shooting. It'll save you a lot of time writing.

    watch Gamblers - Short Film

This is a film I shot in 3 hours as part of a 24 hour film challenge (We were delayed by hours, supposed to start nearly 5 hours before) on 25th July 2015. The editor had no experience (She's an actor and the odd time Director) I think shbe did quite well. Normally I'd have weeks beforehand to...

    Vimeo on Demand

Has anyone here had experience with VoD? I've been looking into it and I can't seem to find much in regard to it's worth as a distribution platform. Has anyone here used it and if so is it worth the price of a pro account (€159 p/y)? Thanks in advance, Andy

Can't take my DSLR on an airplane without risks?

That guy seems to be a bit of a waffler. I've traveled with my dslr's on flights and never had this. I remember reading an article on this particular subject and this particular guy. You need a lot more gamma rays to kill pixels, much more than you could ever get on a plane. If I find the...

When would you use a lav microphone?

I would use them in a narrative as a backup for the boom or vice versa. If in a narrative just make sure they're well hidden.

Is the Canon XA20 the right camcorder for a microbudget documentary?

Hey Hermit, I used to use a Canon HF G25 and found it was quite good for mini-documentaries and micro budget stuff, but it was lacking in a few places. (Such as no XLR ports) If you have XLR you can save a fair bit of time (& money) in post. Also the handle on the XA20 is very handy for...

    What's in your filmmaking kit?

Hey everyone, What are the contents of your filmmaking kit and what is it mainly used for? I'm a firm believer in only use what you need and my kit does me for every occasion that has arisen so far. My kit: Cameras: Panasonic GH4 with cage (mainly used for corporate and documentary) Canon 60D...

    Lenses with IS question

The BMPCC I think is a bad choice on a lower budget. As it's probably been said millions of time here, the batteries are terrible. The quality of the BMPCC is brilliant but I find the battery thing a huge hindrance during a shoot. 15-20 mins per battery, even with switching the camera off as...

I don't know much about cameras

I have a Canon 60D and a Panasonic GH4 and for a lot of jobs I go with the Canon. As the previous posters said, it all depends on what you need. A lot of the corporate jobs I do just need a basic 720p or 1080p web output so I go with the 60D. If they need more I'll use the GH4. For a lot of...

Is shooting a feature with old DSLR a good idea in 2015?

I used my 60D to shoot a feature recently. I have a GH4 as well but went with the Canon. Just make sure you have good lighting and it should turn out looking great.

    watch Short Film

Lol, don't really like the whole salesman dishonesty and spins. I was testing low light and used what I had, I think that's what indie filmmaking is all about. :) I'm not really looking for criticism on the short as a whole, more the the shots i've taken. It's been a long time since I've had...
