    Looking for a critique.

Okay, I was thinking that every time the character was refered that you had to say his name. Hence the CHARLIE this and CHARLIE that. I maybe was too actively trying not to write as a narrative. So I'll look at that tonight and rework it. I'll also redo how I reference the characters since this...

But none of the names are ever mentioned. So, is Charlie and Girlfriend appropriate. Now I'm conflicted because within the script I have two contrasts. One unnamed character who's named and one who isn't.

Okay. I wasn't sure if you should name characters when they don't have names or not. I wasn't naming the main character originally. but that just became to unwieldly. The girlfriends name was never mentioned to i just used GIRLFRIEND. I thought I read that everything time a character is...

    Looking for a critique.

Hey, sorry it's been awhile. I've had a bad month. I planned on posting this last month but life got in the way with a death at work, then a near death, then I became suddenly ill, and once recovered had back writing to catch up with. Anywho, I've developed my first short script. It's eight...

    RANT: HIGH CONCEPT vs. yawn...

Ah, I didn't realize that. I thought these were just concept lines. So, should a logline necessarily give away by expplaining the story. I kind of got the feeling that ultimately they were meant to evoke interest.

    RANT: HIGH CONCEPT vs. yawn...

Hey, thought of another one in the car today. "Pete is damned by God for his sins. All that he desires crumbles and all that is unwanted comes true. His guide is Zigs, the last angel of Heaven. Will Pete find redemption or will he be consumed by his self-hatred." That one sounds pretty cool...

    RANT: HIGH CONCEPT vs. yawn...

It seems to me that I don't like the "High" in "High Concept" and that this is where most of the conversation seesm to be going. I think some people when they see that phrase automatically associate it with "High Art" and "Highbrow" and "Highlander." Okay, maybe not that last one. But "Giant...

How the "Invincible" Casting Call Went.

Oh I did try. I did the sit down and got two or three minutes. Before that we got to hear two speeches. One from the Producer I guess and One from Vince Papale who gave a three minute pep talk. It was funny, the Producer and coach were talking like they were big famous people. But the only...

    watch Bragging a bit

Hey, that was a pretty good trailer. And the web site is slick. When you said, "Most of it was done with hidden camera in a crew bag," I was expecting something like a sting operation from 60 Minutes. I guess it's good that you had access due to working in the airline industry. What did you use...

How the "Invincible" Casting Call Went.

Just got back from the casting call. I ended up waiting for three hours and that doesn't count the two hour commute. It was neat. I wasn't what they were looking for. They're looking for Professional Football Players. Arena Leaguers, CFL Players. There were a few former NFL Players there. No one...

    I just auditioned...

I have very little acting experience. But I eventualy learned through my improv class that the trick to acting is not acting. It sounds silly but it's true. Don't try to act. I'm a big Method fan but at times I think Method Acting goes over the top. Instead, just try to be casual.

A Quick Note: Quality Needed for Festivals

Hey, maybe you can answer a question for me wideshot. What exactly are the different categories of film lengths. Is it just the short and the feature? For example, as a writer I can tell you the word lengths separating the short story, novella, novel, etc. It's a defined length. But it seems...

Hi everybody. I'm interested in making a film.

I found a great website and already started doing that. http://www.sfy.ru/ I started on more modern scripts. Three Kings. Enemy of the State. Do any of you have any suggestions for books so I can get a better grasp of the structure. One thing I find suprising is that In what I've been reading...

Hi everybody. I'm interested in making a film.

You're right they do. I've lived here most of my life in newark but before that I went to Florida State. That's where I hung out with the film and theater students. And they really, really party down there. Mostly because there's nothing else to do. As for the story, that's something I can work...
