Hi. I'm here to talk about a story I plan on turning into a film.

Hi. My name is Alex Shurts. I've been told to make a tread introducing myself. I'm here on the forums for a story i'm working that I plan to go to film school for. The story is pretty long and heckitic, but it's a post apocolyptic space opera(not musical). Imagine Star wars with Mad Max and you'll get the idea. It should take awhile prior to when I manage to type up the whole article, but I might rush it. Keep in mind one major reason why i'm on this site is because I have a couple questions since i've already shown my story to several people, but i'm worried that it is at risk of it's IP being stolen. I know that typing my story down already makes it copyright protected, but I want to be on the safe side.

It's good to be ambitious but just keep in mind when writing a script how much money you'll have to make your movie. And what you'll be able to do with said money. Pretty much every filmmaker has been guilty of writing something they can't really afford to film at one point or another. Some manage to pull it off others don't, it all depends on the person. If it's special fx heavy I'd look at movies like Monsters and Troll Hunter for inspiration. It's crazy how good the CG in those movies is when compared to their budget.

Thanks. Yes, my story is relatively ambitious and won't be an easy nut to crack if anything. I've added the link in the top comment in this threat to the post where I explain some details about my story. I likely will post more there in the future.

Wow, that is an extremely detailed post. Gonna take me a bit to get through all of it.

But regardless, welcome to the wonderful and stressful world of making a scifi film!!!
