Here goes

Hey ! I was planning to be a silent lurker seeing if this place is for me but forum rules seems to be set in stone so here I am. Been carrying a camera with me everywhere I go since... 5 years old (grandad was a photographer so all the shitty used up cameras where at my mercy). Graduated music school - that didn't hit the right spot, started writing shifty fantasy stories - just not enough, went to photography - closer but not fully satisfying. I have a head full of ideas, mystical creatures lurking about with characters that just won't give up but I can not seem to find a way to expel it beyond my own imagination. So I thought joining a like minded community might help. Almost like a support group or therapy session of sorts. Is this the right place? Let me know because I am lost ! :bag:

P.S. English is my second language so excuse any eye stabbing mistakes I might have made.

awesome have any of your stories been written in a screenplay format yet ?
it takes a little practice to adapt to the style.

Oh screenplays absolutely scare me. I tried it a few years ago with some free software but I was wrapped deep in a big life change so I paused all my creative work and only recently started getting back into it. Any suggestions for a software that would help kickstart a learning curve?

¡Hola! Soy Shimabuku.

Hi Shimabuku :hi:

I'm not sure that any of the software is great for teaching you the format. But if you want to play around with it a bit without a financial commitment,
but Celtx is pretty straightforward and has a free version. I like Final Draft best, but I'd hold off on spending money for that unless/until you're sure that it's something you want to pursue.

:hi: Do these mystical creatures talk to you inside your head? If so, you may be beyond help ... But I'm sure it'd be fun to try.

Haha, does it count if they're talking to my other made up people while in my head? You might be on to something here... 😁

Lol I love your welcome post.

What kind of stories interest you?

Well thank you, I put my heart and wits into it. Anything mystical really. Magic, fairies, demons, witches, werewolves, dragons, other universe(s). My grandma was a teacher so since I was 4 yo I started reading these mythological type of books (she had different myth books translated from different European countries) and that kind of brain washed me I suppose? It made me into a book worm and by age 10 I already had read every fantasy book in our small town library no matter how shitty it was so I'm corrupted 😄

Okay, this prompted me to respond. I would have never known. After reading several of your posts, I'm quite impressed.

You must have a good eye for shot composition. Did you ever make any videos?

Music can be fantasy oriented. I'm rather fond of the soundtrack to LEGEND (Tangerine Dream version).

When I was in school, music classes didn't hit the right spot, for me either. I didn't relate to traditional instruments. I was interested in soundtracks and weird soundscapes. Electronic scores (like HALLOWEEN and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK) influenced me enough to buy a synthesizer. All I needed was a different sound palette. I could finally make soundtrack type sounds. From that point on, I was hooked.

If you haven't already done so, this topic deserves it's own thread. I'm not sure if you have the patience for learning 3-D animation programs, but I have a friend who makes stuff like this:

Or perhaps, you want to go a different direction. If you post about that subject, you might get some good suggestions.
