I've been working on this short doc for over a year now. It's finished (just about) and I've been promoting the ever-loving-hell out of it. Everywhere I can. Everyone I can talk to. Well, it's starting to pay off.
The film is about mental health awareness. I made it in dedication to my late...
Featuring raw interviews and stories coming straight from actual sufferers of mental illness. The goal is to increase awareness and shed light on stories that may otherwise have gone unheard. They can no longer be swept under the rug. They need a voice.

Lemme explain a bit lol So this is a documentary project involving interviews with many people I know about mental health, depression, abuse, anxiety, etc.
My initial plan before all this was to have a screening for everyone involved and make it a charity event for mental health research.

Sorry, I had asked something similar about my trailer lol But for this I wanted to know everything I could about actually getting the film out there.
My best bet is to wait until COVID is over, huh?
It's rendering as I type this. What should I do? I have a YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and my own personal website. Should I just post it online and get my friends to share it around? Should I wait for a film fest? Should I pay money to get it circulated?
Any tips would help! I wanna do this...
Thanks for the replies everyone. I submitted my trailer to Film Shortage last night.
They sent a reply this morning and said that they liked it, even going as far as to say it's quite meaningful and they're gonna promote it!
I just submitted my trailer to FilmShortage so hopefully that pans out. Once I finish that short I'll look into paying $30 to post it on other websites lol
I have one short film out now and a trailer for my next project but I'm having trouble creating buzz. I don't know where to start, really. They've gotten a lot of shares on Facebook but YouTube seems dead. Are there any sure-fire ways to get the word out?
Actually Evil Dead is another great example! 'Buried' and 'Blaire Witch Project' also came to mind. Although I am trying to stay away from the Horror genre right now. Mainly I'd like to do something with existential dilemmas or mind-bending aspects to it.
Never heard of it but the description...
Hadn't thought of those actually! Love both!
That sounds interesting, do you have a link? I'd check it out.
See, I'm currently financially limited due to COVID-19 so the one project I did have in mind I can't afford to do right now lol But I still want to put something out. I did start...
Does anyone have any experience writing a script (or know of a good example) where the short is limited to either one or only a couple different settings (A house, the woods, etc.)?
